Running Health Benefits

health benefits of running start at a young age

-It is so true, the running health benefits are many, and the calories burned running aren't too hard to take either.

When most people think about the many health benefits of running, they usually think of running to lose weight.

In fact, more often than not, that's quite often the main reason they started their running program in the first place.

-However, running offers many additional health benefits on top of just being a fantastic way to burn calories and lose weight:

The 5 Top Running Health Benefits

#1 - Running increases your sex drive. -Need I say more? Well, check this out: several studies have shown that people who exercise regularly have more and much better sex.

Also, if you're between the age of 40 and 60 years old, a Harvard University study has found that you typically have the same amount of sex as non-athletes 20 years younger!

-That same study also found that men who run, are more likely and are more able to achieve and maintain an erection, and that women who run are more easily aroused and have better orgasms.

(Excuse me, but I think I have to go for a run now!)

#2 - Another of the health benefits of running is: much improved sleep. Millions of people suffer from insomnia, sleep apnea and various other sleep related problems and disorders.

Several studies have been able to successfully link a positive relationship between running and getting a better nights sleep.

-One such study that was conducted in Australia, found that runners seemed to have greater sleep efficiency, or the ratio of the amount of time you are asleep to the total amount of time you are in bed.

#3 - Running improves your mental health. Wondrous feel good hormones are released when we run, which include endorphins.

These endorphins help us to control stress, give us the confidence we need and a certain sense of calm, and occasionally provide that sense of euphoria, known by many running people, as a runner's high.

These same hormones have been studied and linked to a marked reduction in depression symptoms.

-Even without the endorphins your body releases, the health benefit of aerobic exercise from running can help enable you to work off any anger, fear or just the common frustrations that the day may bring, clearing the mind and relaxing the body.

#4 - Running slows down the aging process. Whether you're in your twenties or fifties, chances are pretty good you're interested in retaining a youthful appearance and attitude.

-Running health benefits strong bones and muscles, which means you'll be able to retain your youthful grace and your figure, and with that, your enthusiasm for life and continued endurance for many years to come.

#5 - Running improves your cardiovascular endurance.

Heart disease is the leading cause of death in the United States.

-Again, need I say more?

Running health benefits you by lowering your blood pressure and it helps your arteries maintain their integrity to keep your heart muscle strong and keep you - full of vim and vigor.

-That's only 5 of the running health benefits you receive when you start and maintain a running program. Running can go a long way in getting you and keeping you in tip-top physical shape.

More good news: -you don't have to run races or marathons to receive all these running health benefits.

-It can be part of an overall fitness exercise program, meaning you'll only need to run a few miles total per week.

You'll be physically and mentally stronger, sleep better, look younger, and yes ...you'll have better sex too.

You'll also live a longer and much happier life, and it doesn't get much better than that!
