Colds and flu are something that commonly affect a lot of people periodically. Nevertheless, no matter how many times it strikes within a year, we never seem to develop an immunity to it. It’s probably because new strains of the flu virus develop from time to time which makes it hard for our immune defenses to form antibodies against it.


There are a couple of reasons why you catch a cold. The change of seasons is one. This may be a simple condition to deal with but when this affects you, you could be bound to bed for days.

As the old adage goes, “An ounce of prevention is better than a pound of cure”. Thus, learn some of the simple yet effective ways on how to prevent catching flu and spare yourself from the sniffles and congested nostrils.

Modifying the kind of diet you have, especially if it’s unhealthy, would help ensure that you’re in tip-top condition. It's up to you to see to it that your diet is loaded with fresh fruits, veggies and whole grains. It’s better to rely on macronutrients than on supplements because you’ll be able to obtain the essential vitamins and minerals that your body really needs.

Diet may be the key towards preventing bouts of flu, however an ample amount of rest and sleep, exercise, and stress management are also equally important.

Do not underestimate the value any of the these things. Remember, that for you to achieve a sound body you have to see to it that all the systems are in equilibrium.
