The Stomach Flu Brings Sisters Closer Together

My sister and I are five and a half years apart in age with me being the older one.
As you can imagine, we didn't have a lot in common while we were young because of this age difference.
However, when I was 15 years old, I came down with a very bad case of the stomach flu. In addition to a extremely high fever, I'd wake up every half hour needing to throw up.
I couldn't eat or even drink anything. The hunger was bearable but the thirst was intense. Anything more than a few small sips of water would send me running back to the bathroom.
While I was bedridden though, my 10 year old sister would watch over me. No matter what she was doing, the instant I called, she'd come a running. She did everything from bringing me a drink of water to putting on movies for me, and all without so much as the smallest complaint.
I was touched that she was doing so much for me.
I repaid her in kind when she ended up getting the very same stomach flu from me a week later.
It was truly a bonding moment for the two of us and brought us closer together.
It made me realize how lucky I am to have her for my sister.
