Please, help in the fight against Breast Cancer. Support your local breast cancer organization!
-October has long been recognized as National Breast Cancer Awareness Month in the United States. There are many organizations involved in Breast Cancer research that will surely need a helping hand to promote breast cancer awareness.
-Involvement can be as easy as a breast cancer donation or by becoming a volunteer if you really want to help. Starting your own breast cancer awareness campaign in your local community can be a great way to help fight breast cancer.
.... but you don't have to wait until October to get started!
With help from many of the organizations devoted to Breast Cancer research and awareness, you can plan an event almost any time of year.
-Getting your friends and neighbors involved can make it a more enjoyable task for sure, but to make your project as successful as possible and to get that breast cancer donation, you really need the power of numbers.
The local chamber of commerce, your church, business groups in the area, and the PTA can help a lot in that department.
Another way would be to form a committee, perhaps write a short tip-sheet on what women can do to stay healthy, or how to reduce their risks for breast cancer, how to show your breast cancer support, etc.
-It's not difficult; a tip sheet need not be any longer than one page and would consist merely of a list of important ideas or tips on how a woman could reduce her risk for developing breast cancer.
The American Cancer Society or any of the well known Breast Cancer organizations will send you material you can use as reference material, all you need to do is ask.
-The Internet is also a great source of breast cancer information, and there are many breast cancer support groups that would be more than happy to help.
Once your breast cancer support fact sheet is complete, you can mail it, or distribute it to members of your local chamber of commerce, church, or Parent/Teachers Association.
-Also, any business associations you are familiar with should also be included on your mailing list. Along with your fact sheet, be sure to include information on how to make a breast cancer donation to help fund research and awareness.
Another way to fight breast cancer is to contact The Susan B. Komen Foundation or The American Cancer Society. Find out what local and national events they are currently sponsoring, such as runs and walks to support breast cancer research.
-Once more, with the help of your local chamber of commerce, council on aging, church group and any number of organizations in your area, you can help fight breast cancer by promoting these events and by distributing leaflets and brochures their sponsors will provide for you.
These breast cancer organizations can help:
If you own your own business, you could make a breast cancer donation in the name of some of your better clientele. Follow it up by sending those customers a note, thanking them for their continued business and letting them know you made a breast cancer donation in their name.
-You've helped support breast cancer and got some good P R for your company at the same time.
If you're not a business owner, making a breast cancer donation as a memorial, or in honor of a loved one, is a great way to show your breast cancer support and it goes a long way in the fight against breast cancer.
-It can also be very fulfilling.
If you or a loved one has had breast cancer, you know how important it is to get the message out there to women, how critical it is that they be made aware of the breast cancer risk factors.
Test your breast cancer awareness
One of the most important things you can do in relaying that message, is to promote the many breast cancer organizations that are of so much benefit to all, and maybe get a breast cancer donation at the same time.
