My brother with Downs Syndrome is the happiest person I've met

by lisa cyrus
(Stanley Va.)

Some people think that being smart and funny are the most important things about life, but I believe being happy is.

I was so worried when my younger brother was born with Downs Syndrome. It's a medical condition where you have an extra chromosome that causes many different symptoms, but it doesn't effect a persons happiness.

My brother is 18 now, and although in many ways he is slower than the other kids, he is a delight to know.

He is always laughing and gets the more out of small pleasures than any one I know. Even though I wouldn't wish any to have Downs Syndrome I wouldn't trade my brother for anyone either.
